The Montello Gospel Hall was built entirely by volunteer labour, including making their own bricks.
It was commenced in January 1952 and was expected to be open by the end of May the same year.
The Advocate newspaper in September 1952 has a picture of the building with the headline 'New Church at Montello'.
On our visit in August 2000 the church was called the Montello Community Church.
