Overview
The Salvation Army opened their new hall at Crabtree on Saturday 2nd June 1917 with the service conducted by Major Henry of Launceston. The hall was packed with people from all over the district. The hall was not large enough to hold all those who attended the evening events.
Situated in the centre of the district, it was built on land donated by Mr. Robert Harvey of Cygnet. A large sum of money had been collected and with the proceeds of the opening services it was expected it would almost pay for the building.
Prior to the new building services were held in the small state school.
