The Quadrant Gospel Hall

The Gospel Hall in The Quadrant was established in approximately 1870 with the goal of bringing together those who were disadvantaged and providing them with an opportunity to hear the gospel of God's grace. An advertisement in the Cornwall Advertiser, a newspaper in Launceston, in November 1871 mentions the hall.

Mr. C.J. Lowe having passed the examination under the Board of Education, begs to announce that he intends to open a DAY SCHOOL on Monday, 13th instant, at the Gospel Hall, Quadrant, and feels confident that he will be able to give satisfaction to the parents of children entrusted to his charge. Terms: 1s. per week, payable in advance,

A intriguing piece was submitted to The Mercury newspaper, titled "Our Launceston Letter from our correspondent." It read: "As the lyrics of a well-known song, either composed by Tennyson or Harry Rickards, begins, 'In a street, in a lane, in a Quadrant,' there stands a building in Launceston known as the Gospel Hall. This structure serves as a gathering place for a group of individuals who identify as 'Believers.'" ...

The 70th anniversary celebrations of the Launceston Baptist Memorial Church recall that the Gospel Hall in the Quadrant was utilized starting in 1873 and continued until 1876.
