Overview

Early Anglican services were held in the Strahan Court House.

In 1892, on modified plans Mr. Goddard secured a contract to construct the Anglican church. Mr. Goddard had recently finished the Police Court buildings which were carried out in a faithful manner and to specifications.

An article in the Zeehan and Dundas Herald in June 1892 reported that Archdeacon Mason was due to open the church on Sunday the 12th June but was not able to leave Hobart on time, therefore his visit had to be abandoned. The church was officially opened on 12th June 1892 without the presence of the Archdeacon.

Constructed of pine this weatherboard church includes a chancel and a vestry, with a marble font on the left of the entrance. The ceiling was crossed angle ties of vanish hardwood. It was over 40ft long and 22ft wide and reportedly cost £30. In 1957 the church was renovated.

This church is also used for Mass by the Roman Catholic congregation.

This church is was still in use in April 2022.
