Overview

The foundation stone was blessed by the Archbishop of Hobart, Most Rev. Dr. William Hayden on the 4th December 1932. The cost was expected to be around £5,250 and completed by March 1933.

The foundation stone reads:

A.M.D.G.

Archiepiscopus Hobartiensis.

Rmus Gulielmus Hayden, D.D.

Hunc Lapidem.

Benedixit.

The new brick church was opened in June 1933 and seated 350 people. The architect was A.T. Johnston and the builders J Dunn and Sons the builders.
