Overview
A neat wooden chapel and school room was built on land donated by Mr. Rose. With assistance of subscriptions by the residents the building was constructed, it was expected to seat between sixty and seventy people. Reverend William Law of Launceston opened the chapel on the 24th May 1870, free of debt. Afterwards a luncheon was provided with the admission of one shilling.
The chapel served the scattered farming community throughout the district. As the congregation grew the building was extended to meet the needs. Reports show that services were well attended in 1880.
For some years it was known as the northern branch of the Congregational Union and Mission. The building included a day school and Sunday school.
