Middleton Uniting Church

Opened in 1897, the Methodist Church celebrated its 16th anniversary on the 13th July 1913 with Rev. W. Woods preaching a morning sermon on 'The Power of Influence'.

The inaugural construction of the church was overseen by Messrs. W. Bailie and H. Wolf, utilizing timber and designed with provisions for a wood fire. Known colloquially as the Long Bay Methodist Church during its formative years, this sacred edifice met its untimely demise amidst the ravaging inferno of the 1967 bushfires.

The church originally stood within the ecclesiastical bounds of the Woodbridge Circuit, later transitioning to the Channell Circuit before ultimately becoming part of the Kingborough Circuit.

This timber building was burnt in the 1967 bushfires which ravaged Tasmanian's south.

A modern brick chapel was constructed after the 1967 bushfires and became a multi denominational church used by the Anglican's, Catholic and the Uniting.

This is now a private residence.
