Dundas Home Mission Station

The trustees of the Zeehan Methodist church reported that in 1891 a church at Dundas had been built at a cost of £157. In 1897 the Methodist Home Mission Station was formed after the towns of Dundas, Ringville and Mount Read separated from Zeehan.

Regular afternoon services were held in a church hall by the ministers who would walk from Zeehan to Dundas and return over the road that was northing more than a track through the bush.

The Zeehan and Dundas Herald reported in April 1910 that the Methodist Church at Dundas had sustained severe damage after a gale and that the repairs would be considerable. In January 1911 a working bee was held with the church undergoing a rigorous overhaul, both in interior and exterior painted.

In July 1919 this building was purchased and moved to Stowport where it was re-erected and used by the Stowport Methodist community. This building is still there today (2020).
