Overview

Home missionary Mr. W.T. Baker was mainly responsible for the building of the Tasmanian hardwood church at Tyenna. The structure had Gothic windows and was lined with v-jointed hardwood. Between £200 and £300 was raised and the church opened debt free.

On Saturday the 26th May 1923 the opening and dedication service was performed by Rev. A. Sussex, the secretary of the Tasmanian Assembly.

The Mercury newspaper on the 25th May 1923 reported that a wedding had taken place on the 12th May in the New Methodist Church between Elias Churchill and Greta Squires.

Services ceased around 1940 but commenced again in 1947 and were held in a Sunday School. In 1965 the Glenora church was moved and used as a hall. Services ceased in 1971.
