Overview

On 25 July 1971, Pastor R.W. Howes formally dedicated the Burnie Seventh-day Adventist Church, marking a significant milestone for the local congregation. Constructed in white brick, the church was designed to accommodate both worship and community service, incorporating welfare facilities and a spacious hall. This includes voluntary labour valued at $6,000, a contribution that played a pivotal role in the church's completion. Pastor T.R. Parker proudly referred to the project as the ‘miracle church,’ recognizing the dedication and efforts of those involved. The total cost of the building amounted to $42,000, with a seating capacity of 200.

The interior was furnished with modern and tasteful equipment, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal. An electronic organ provided musical accompaniment for services, while purple wall-to-wall carpeting complemented the white interior walls and padded pews, creating a welcoming and refined atmosphere.

The dedication ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including union president Pastor S.M. Uttley, who reminded the congregation of their responsibility to uphold Christian values and service. Burnie’s Warden, Councillor Viney, also participated in the event, expressing his appreciation for the church’s contributions to the local community and reaffirming his commitment to collaboration and support.

This church is still in use today (June 2025).
