St Peter's

Built 1870, Purchased 1973.

The Davey Street Church was purchased by the Saint Peter's congregation in 1973 for only $55,000. Originally built as a Methodist Church in 1870, the building was designed by Crouch and Wilson of Melbourne and much of the stone was from quarries near Bridgewater and Summerleas. Designed to hold up to 350 worshippers at a time, the building is quite large in size, however, much of the stone and other architectural elements of the church were incredibly weak; it was for this reason that Saint Peter's moved once again to the current grounds at Eastside Lutheran College. The church building has since sold to Hillsong.
