Overview

A Gormanston town map dated 1963 records lot 15, section H purchased by (Monsignor) D.F.X. Beechinor (1837-1923) and others; fronting Tyndall Street, Gormanston.

In 1897 a bazaar was held in aid of building a Catholic Church at Gormanston. The newspaper of June 1900 reported that Dr. Delany held morning holy mass with a large congregation in attendance.

The first baptism took place on the 6th December 1901 by Father Travers, the infant was Elliah Williams. Between December 1901 and July 1903 Father Travers baptised 47 at Crotty, North Lyell, Linda Valley and Kelly Basin (Pillinger).
