Overview
Rocky Hills Probation station has a spectacular view overlooking Freycinet Peninsula and Schouten Island.
It was one of eight stations to exclusively receive convicts transported
direct from the United Kingdom, these did not associate with other prisoners. It was opened in 1841 and closed in 1848. A convict Road Party was established in the deep gully below the site in the late 1830s.
