Overview
The Seventh-Day Adventist's opened their Chapel in Launceston on the corner of Maitland and Percy Streets on Sunday 26th April 1903. The first sermon was given by Pastor Farnsworth of Melbourne.
This building served the community for 64 years, it was replaced in 1967 with a new church in Talbot Road. The following advertisement appeared in the Examiner newspaper.
THE Seventh Day Adventists will dedicate their Chapel, on corner of Percy and Maitland Streets, Sunday, April 26, 3 p.m. Sermon by Pastor Farnsworth of Melbourne. All Invited.
This structure is still standing and is currently used by St Joe's Big Band, Australia's oldest Big Band.
