Overview

This building sold in October 2013 and was described as follows:

The Old Chapel”
107 WELLINGTON STREET, LONGFORD
Here is a real opportunity! A chance to build your life around a beautiful, heritage listed, early Victorian Chapel.
Built in 1836, The Old Chapel started as a Wesleyan church in the town of Longford.
Sections were rebuilt in the 1870's as well as a second building intended for a Sunday school. The Old Chapel was converted to a combined home and B&B in the early 1970's and has remained well loved since.
The former Sunday school is currently used as an Art School but could serve many purposes. It has local Council approval for use as a business premises. It has a full bathroom and kitchenette, a wood heater and a telephone line. While the property was used as a B&B, this building served as the owner's family home whereas the main chapel building was for the guests.
The chapel building itself offers a wonderful blend of period charm and modern convenience. It is built from convict made bricks. The main lounge has a full 25 ft ceiling height made of solid Tasmanian Oak boards and original exposed beams. Through cedar French doors, you then access the Dining room with fireplace and then into the delightful kitchen. From the kitchen you can directly access a second bedroom, the main bathroom and the laundry to exit into a beautiful enclosed courtyard which separates the Chapel and the Sunday school.
