Overview
Noted Evangelist Mr. Stephen Cheek arrived in the region in 1879 preaching the Gospel of the New Testament.
A small chapel was built on a hill in 1892 overlooking Marion Bay and the Tasman Sea. This Chapel was destroyed in a spate of arson attacks around the area in 1895. The Mercury newspaper, 5th February 1895:
... This is the second within a week, the first being the Christians' Chapel, which was burnt down under similarly mysterious circumstances.
The new Christians' Chapel could accommodate a congregation of one hundred.
This building was relocated to Copping.
