Sisters Creek Uniting Church

Mr. Ulyett held the first registered service on the 8th January 1893, he was part of the United Methodist Free Church.

The Wellington Times newspaper reports the following in June 1883:

NEW BUILDING AT SISTERS CREEK - To The Editor - Sir, - I hasten to correct an error which crept into the local news column of your last issue, in reference to the above. The building to be opened next Sunday has been raised by the liberal contributions and earnest efforts of residents and others interested in the Sisters Creek district, who belong to various denominations. It is not meant for the exclusive use of any particular church or body of Christians, and cannot therefore be properly described as 'Episcopalian" - Yours C.G. The ladies of the district decorated the church with evergreens and flowers for the opening, food was in abundance. Visitors came from all the neighbouring districts. A financial statement was given by Mr. Chapel, who reported the church was almost debt free. Mr. Pearson gave the generous gift of the land and Mr. Smith and others erected the building free of charge.

The Wesleyan Methodists first held services at Sisters Creek in November, 1893. The United Methodist Free Church, the Wesleyan Methodist and the Primitive Methodists united to form the Methodist Church of Australasia, on 1st January 1902.

In 1914 the church, which was undenominational was given over to the Methodists. The first official church body was formed on 28th January 1915 and an extension of 25 feet by 20 feet was built on later at a cost of £50.
