Rosebery Uniting Church (Rita Williams Memorial Church)

The first Methodist service at Rosebery was held in 1897 at Mr. Eckberg's carpenter shop. Rev. W.R. Featonby was the minister for the Dundas, Ringville & Mount Read Home Mission at that time.

Its reputed that a church was built in 1898, but its location and what became of it is unknown. The Zeehan and Dundas Herald in March 1910 reported services would be held in the Rosebery Methodist church.

With the rise and fall of the mining industry, the population declined and the church closed. By 1929 the Methodist cause was once again looking to build a new church in Rosebery. The Advocate newspaper in late October 1929 stated that it had been resolved that a new church would be built and that each church trust in Tasmania would be asked to contribute £1/1 towards the cost.

The following year a church was built on the slopes of Mount Black, it was a memorial to Mrs. Rita Williams, the wife of Rev. Robert Williams who was chairman of the Tasmanian Assembly.

In the 1950s a Sunday school and parsonage were added.

The buildings were advertised for sale by public auction, this took place at 12 noon on the 23rd October 2009

This church became part of the 'Uniting' church in 1971.
