Overview

Records state there was a hall/church called St Mark's at the Steppes in 1911, this was the centre of activities as well has a place to worship. A sanctuary was added and the name was changed and dedicated to St Luke's on October 1911.

In August 1911 with the assistance of members of the Church of England Men's Society a parish hall was erected. The timber building measured 47 feet by 20 feet and cost the sum of £130 for the main building. £60 was collected by the secretary Mr. George Tilley, £30 from helpers and a loan of £50 from the diocesan church enabled the purchase of half an acre of land and the construction of the hall.

This building, today is owned and administered by the local community.
