Collinsvale Seventh-day Adventist Church

The town of Collinsvale, formerly known as Bismarck, underwent a name change during World War I due to anti-German sentiment in the community.

In February 1889, Seventh-day Adventists arrived in Bismarck and started preaching at the local Wesleyan church. However, after being turned away from the church and a state school classroom, the Adventists held their meetings in Mr. August Darko's home, where a large group of people would gather in the kitchen to listen to preaching. On July 20th, 1889, the Bismarck Seventh-day Adventist Church was officially organized with 34 members and a church building was constructed that same year. Services were held in the new building starting 28th December 1889, and the first wedding took place there on January 1st, 1890.

The registration of the Bismarck Seventh-day Adventist church was announced in The Gazette and reported on the 22nd October 1895 in The Mercury newspaper.

In 1921, the church began a school with Miss Lilian Robertson as the teacher. The school continued until 1951, when pupils were transferred to the Fleet Street, Moonah school. Over the years, many teachers contributed to the school, including Bertha Voss, Oliver Ferris, Hans Vetter, Ted Butler, George Maywald, and others. The last teacher was J.G Litster.

In 1933, additions were made to the church and were dedicated on the 4th March 1934.
