Overview
This weatherboard church was built by Norman Nicholson in 1904 on land provided by Russell Gibson. While the church belonged to the Presbyterian's it was also used by the Anglican's and Catholic's.
The inside had fine pine-panelled walls and ceiling. The back room of the church was used as the Barton school until the 1940s.
The small cemetery at the side is mostly made up of Gatenby headstones.
By 1974 the building had fallen into disrepair, much of the furniture had been taken by Andrew Nicholson for safe keeping. The Examiner reported that Mr. Reynolds would soon dismantle the building and re-build it at Cleveland to use it as a bus shelter.
