St Andew's

Situated in the Central Highlands, Waddamana is an isolated Hydro-Electric town in the heart of Tasmania's Great Lakes. The Great Lake Scheme is listed under the Tasmanian Heritage Register

Construction on the Waddamana Power Station began in 1910 by a private company, they soon struck financial difficulties and in 1914 was taken over by the Tasmanian Government, which formed the Hydro-Electric Department known as the HEC (Hydro-Electric Commission).

Dorothea Henslowe, in her book about the Anglican Churches in Tasmania wrote that one of the houses was used for a church.

In 1924 an advertisement stated that the Waddamana church library has been reorganised by Mrs. Evans.

In the early 1960s, a notable transformation took place within the community. One of the former employee cottages was converted into a church, bearing the name of St. Andrew's. This establishment fell under the administration of the Bothwell parish.
