Launceston First Methodist Chapel

Launceston's first Methodist Chapel was built 1826 in Cameron Street on the site now occupied by Holy Trinity church. This was the year that Rev. John Hutchinson attempted to establish a church in Launceston. Due to Rev. Hutchinson's commitment to leave before the end of the year and because of finance by 1828 the cause was discontinued and the land sold to the government for use as a school.

Early newspaper Hobart Town Gazette reported that an amount of between £200-£300 had been subscribed for the erection of a Wesleyan Chapel for Launceston.
