Southport Convict Probation Station Chapel

The Southport Convict Probation Station was established in 1841 and closed in 1848, it is known as Australia's most southern settlement.

There is a very good Chapel divided by partitions, one part being for the Officers, and three divisions for the three distinct classes of prisoners.

The Resident Medical Officer visits the Station at Port Esperance and one of the Overseers who is Roman Catholic, reads prayers to the men of his creed who form about one third of the prisoners on the Station.
