Overview
Bible readings in the Huon Valley began in the late 1890s and on the 29th December 1900 Pastors Parker & Hilliard conducted services in the Glen Huon hall.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church at Glen Huon was among the first five Adventist churches established in Tasmania. In 1904 Pastor Hilliard dedicated a new church building free of debt, it was situated in 'Seventh Day Road'. By 1944 a new school building was opened, this building burnt down in 1960.
In November 1920, members of the Glen Huon Seventh Day Adventist church gathered for their annual picnic in Mr. Shield's paddock. The church extended a public invitation and provided a luncheon and tea for all attendees. Young and old alike had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The foundation stone for the modern church was laid on the 14th November 1957, the first service took place by Pastor C.D. Judd on the 17th March 1959. It was not dedicated until 19th September 1964.
The church was sold in November 2015 and is now a private residence.
