Taroona Presbyterian Church

T he Moderator of the Tasmanian Presbyterian Church Rev. C.Y. Reid opened Taroona church on Sunday 30th April 1950 with a simple ceremony. The church was shared with the Anglican's of a weekend and the Department of Education as a pre-school during the week.

The Examiner newspaper on Saturday 24th April 1948 invited tenders for the sale and removal of the Gray church. The wooden building was cut into sections and transported to Taroona. Voluntary labour undertook the task of re-erection under the supervision of the Presbyterian Extension Committee. The money to purchase the building was provided interest free from the Presbyterian church of Victoria.

When the Uniting Church of Australia (UCA) was formed on the 22nd June 1977 between the Congregational, Methodist & Presbyterian Churches of Australia this church became part of the union.
