Falmouth Church

The Courier newspaper in January 1852 stated that the Rev. S. Parsons had lately arrived in the colony and had been appointed to the parishes of Fingal, Cullenswood and Falmouth. The Tasmanian Church Chronicle noted that in February 1852 that there were plans for a church at Falmouth and the Rector stated that there was a church at Falmouth.

A photograph of an early timber church at Falmouth was supplied to us by the Fingal Valley Historical Association, the date is unknown. This same photograph was published by Tim McManus in his book 'Thanks to Providence' : A History of Falmouth, Tasmania and its People".

In February 1923 a strawberry feast and fair was held at the estate Mariposa the fair was organised by Mrs. Vernon Ransom. Various stallholders supplied cakes, produce, ice cream, afternoon tea with strawberries and cream, just to name a few. The proceeds of £30 were given to improve the little Falmouth church.

In 1969 Falmouth came under the St Helen's Parish and the building used for services was officially recognised as a church. Mr. Gilbert Shier and his sons set to work repairing and painting the church building.

Tim McManus reported that in 1993, this building was being used as a church.

This building is used by all denominations.
