Deddington Protestant Chapel (Nile Chapel)

The small chapel is closely associated with the artist John Glover, who lived nearby on the property Patterdale, he and his wife Sarah are buried in the cemetery.

Mr. Robert Pitcairn, the owner of Nile Farm donated the land, with public subscription the little chapel was built. Set among native trees the building is of a simple brick design, painted white with a gabled roof.

Built around 1840 and opened on the 10th May 1841, it was primarily used by the Presbyterians. Finally the Presbyterians allowed Protestant ministers to also use the chapel.

In 1861 the Board of Education used the chapel as a school for the local children.
