Early services were held by both the Catholic and Anglican (Church of the Ascension) faiths in the Storys Creek school hall.
The priests and ministers would travel from Avoca and due to the distance and poor road conditions services were infrequent. The first Catholic service was held in 1919 by Father McCarthy.
