All Saints'

All Saints', Bangor is situated on the rise of a hill north west of Lilydale. Mr. James Atherton designed and built the church. He was also responsible for raising the funds.

The Tasmanian Democrat newspaper on 2nd December 1893 reported the following:

*The New Anglican Church at Bangor is fast approaching completion, and when completed will be the most handsome edifice in the district. Taking into consideration the fact that the church was proposed and erected within the very respectable period of about six months ...

The foundation stone was laid in March 1893 and consecrated in December 1895. Unlike other rural churches All Saints' was clad with galvanised corrugated iron and is possibly the only church to have this horizontal exterior cladding.

The interior is a marked contrast, with beautifully polished horizontal pine timber wall with copper nails, this extends over the vaulted ceiling.

Records show that this church was closed for a period of 8 years, Church News reports its opening again in late 1973.

This church was on the Anglican rationalisation list in 1997. It is listed on the Australian Heritage Database.

In 2006, the building was first advertised for sale. Over the ensuing years, it was listed multiple times and ultimately underwent a transformation, becoming a five-bedroom, two-bathroom residence.
