Overview

Wesleyan services were first held at Caveside in 1875 in a modest two-room cottage near Lobster Bridge. However, this building quickly proved insufficient, prompting discussions about constructing a fit for purpose church which could be also used as a school.

Initially, a plot of land near 'the cutting' was donated, but it was found to be unsuitable. Subsequently, Mr. Henry Reed donated one acre of land, valued at £1, on March 20, 1878. Over the years, the church underwent extensions.

During the 1900s, the Caveside Methodist Sunday School held its anniversary celebrations, drawing large crowds and garnering significant appreciation for the services.

On October 26, 1968, a new brick church was opened and dedicated by Reverend W. J. Wilson on the original site. The construction cost amounted to $9184.

The church was later sold and has since been converted into a private residence.
