Overview

The people of the district petitioned the Governor for a church and schoolroom to be built. One report has the Gee family contributing funds and that it was functioning as a school in 1830.

This stone structure was built by convict labour. Convict musters where held at The Springs Church ground in the district of Evandale in 1844.

For many years the Methodist's used this building, but other denominations also held services here.

The Examiner newspaper reported that the old 125 year old convict built church at Breadalbane was guttered by fire in March 1948.
