Liffey Baptist church (Stanford Baptist Chapel)

Opening services were conducted on the 21st August 1881 of the Stamford Baptist Chapel by Rev. R. Williamson who travelled from Perth. The building was crowed with an attentive audience, Miss Bosworth recited with feeling a piece of poetry dedicated to the memory of a beloved daughter, now deceased, of Mr. Thos. Jordan sen.

Constructed of wood the building measured 24ft by 14ft and was lined inside with T and G pine, labour and the materials except for for the pine was given by the Jordan family. Mr. Thomas Jordan jun., Messrs. Thomas Jones and John Jordan erected the building. The pine was kindly presented to them by Messrs. Gibson and Son of Perth, the chapel furniture was also made from pine.

During a fearful gale in May 1882 the Upper Liffey Chapel was blowen down, some of the timber and walls sent flying over 100 yards and other sections were up to half a mile away.
