Overview
The Courier newspaper on the 2nd September 1848 states that a grant of £25 was to go towards the building of a church at Bridgewater.
The next newspaper report in August 1857 states the Rev. John Burrowes was seeking to augment a building fund for a Chapel at Bridgwater by selling his sermon.
Dorothea Henslowe in her book Our Heritage of Anglican Churches in Tasmania writes that a chapel, St Peter's was built in early 1846 and licensed in December of that year (Vol. 1. Folio 389).
No further information about this church has been found.
