Overview
A small Catholic church was built of weatherboards with a shingle roof in 1860s (possibly 1864), this was the time of Father M. Beechinor. The Mercury newspaper in June of 1869 states that an entertainment consisting of a tea party and music was held in aid of liquidating the debt on the pretty little Roman Catholic Church at Mangana.
In July 1869 a tea-party was held at Mr. Duncan's Assembly Rooms, Fingal, in aid of the Catholic Church at Mangana.
This building stood beside the new church until it was pulled down between 1938 and 1945.
