A sermon was preached by Rev. B. Carvosso on the laying of the foundation stone of the O'Brien's Bridge Wesleyan Chapel on New Years Day 1830.
The following advertisement was placed in The Hobart Town Courier newspaper on Friday the 1st January 1831:
WESLEYAN MISSION
THE new Wesleyan Chapel at O'Brien's bridge
will be opened for Divine Worship on the first day of the New Year, 1831.
Rev. Mr. Macarthur, Presbyterian Minister
is expected to preach on the occasion. Service
to commence at 2 o'clock, p.m. A collection
will be made after the Sermon towards defraying
the expenses incurred in building the Chapel.
