Sandfly Methodist Church

Services began at Sandfly about 1869 when Mr. Lovell preached under the auspices of the Wesleyan Methodist Church.

In February 1895 the Rev. W. Beckett applied to purchase land on which to build a church, on the 2nd October 1895 the Rev. Charles Oswald Lelean effected the purchase.

The plans were drawn up by Mr. J. Maddison of Hobart for a building measuring 25 feet by 17 feet, this was later changed to 35 feet by 18 feet. The estimated cost of erection for the shell only was about £60.

The foundation stone was laid by Captain J. W. Evans M.H.A. on the 3rd November 1897.

There was talk of removal of the church in September 1924
