Overview
The foundation stone was laid by the Governor Sir Arthur Havelock on 22 November 1903, in his address he alluded to the coincidence that the foundation stone was laid by Sir William Denison, who was also a predecessor of his, in India.
The new church was designed by architect Mr. North of Launceston and built by Messrs. Stabb Brothers of Hobart. The building was neat and substantial, made of stone and brick, with a tile roof. It was 60 feet in length and 28 feet wide and could accommodate about 200 people. The cost at the time was reported to be £1,007 with £250 borrowed.
In April 1937 a bell was installed by the Bishop the Right Rev. Dr. R.S. Hay, he stated that it came from St David's Cathedral was installed in honour of the pioneers of the district. He made mention of Rev. Robert Knopwood.
This church is still in use today.
