Overview

Rev. Robert Knopwood performed his first Divine Service in the parish of Kangaroo Point on Sunday 19th February 1826, the service was well attended.

Geoffrey Stephens records 'In 1826 there was a small Chapel of Ease at Clarence Plains. one of the only five churches in Tasmania.".

The distance between Kangaroo Point and Clarence Plains (Rokeby) was six miles.

T he black and white photograph of the stone building was used by Rev. Robert Knopwood as a church and Sunday school in the early 1830s.
