Christ Church

Rev. John Fereday, a prominent clergyman in the district, was appointed in 1846 and served the community for 25 years. His parish encompassed Exeter and Flinders Island. In addition to his clerical duties, Rev. Fereday operated a part-time school from the 1850s until the establishment of a government school in 1869. His long-standing contribution to the region was further marked by the joy of Low Head residents when a dedicated place of worship was opened in 1877.

In a significant contribution to the development of Low Head, Mr. James Long donated land along Low Head Road for the purpose of a place of worship, his farm spanned nearly the entire Low Head peninsula, underscoring his prominent role in the region's history and land use.

Originally known as All Saint's Church, it was opened in mid-March 1877 , the newspaper Tribune wrote:

... The church is a neat weatherboard building, 30 x 8 built and furnished by public contributions at the cost of £190, and so liberal have the friends to the building fund been, that a debt something under £20 only remains on the building. The Rev. Canon Brownrigg and Rev. McDow officiated ...

This timber church was a shared place of worship for multiple Christian denominations. Reverend Charles Price, a clergyman from Launceston, regularly visited to conduct services, highlighting the cooperative spirit among the local Christian communities at that time.

In August 1884, a fundraising effort for the construction of a vestry and chancel successfully raised £30 through a list of subscribers. This financial support highlighted the community's commitment to enhancing the church's facilities.

In March 1884, the Bishop of Tasmania, the Ven. Archdeacon Hales and a party of thirty arrived at Low Head and proceeded to the consecration of the new church, it was re-named Christ Church.

In 2018 this building was listed for sale , in 2023 it was Low Head Chapel Boutique Accommodation.
