Ernest Whitfeld's records indicate that initial religious services took place within the confines of the police station, marking the humble beginnings of worship in the area. Subsequently, in either 1831 or 1836, differing sources suggest the construction of the first church building, although discrepancies in dates suggest the possibility of subsequent renovations or reconstructions.

Official consecration of the church occurred in 1838, signifying its formal dedication to religious rites and ceremonies. However, by 1851, the edifice underwent necessary repairs to maintain its structural integrity and functionality.

In a notable turn of events, February 1878 marked the laying of the foundation stone for a new church, a project culminating in the consecration ceremony held in December 1879. Architect Harry Conway's design envisioned a church characterized by cement stucco both inside and out, exemplifying contemporary architectural trends of the era.

The historical narrative extends to the town of Perth, where religious fervor prompted the construction of a new church. On the 17th January 1836, amidst a spirit of communal support, the new church at Perth was inaugurated, with funds collected to defray construction expenses. Subsequent financial contributions from subscribers further bolstered the project's viability.

His Lord Bishop Charles Bromby presided over the consecration of the Perth church on the 15th of January 1879, marking a significant milestone in the town's religious landscape. The event garnered widespread community participation, as reflected in the noteworthy presence of esteemed clergy and congregants.

The architectural significance of these churches transcends their historical context, as evidenced by their listing on the Tasmanian Heritage Register. Characterized by stuccoed Victorian Free Gothic design elements, including buttressed walls and gable roofs with parapet gables, these structures stand as enduring testaments to Tasmania's architectural heritage.

Despite their historical and architectural significance, the fate of St. Andrew's and the Perth church took an unexpected turn. Initially advertised for sale in April 2015, St. Andrew's has since transitioned into a private residence, symbolizing the evolving landscape of religious heritage preservation in Tasmania.
