Overview

A large number of people attended the laying of the foundation stone by Mrs. H.J. Brock on Tuesday 12th June 1894 with Rev. H. J. Hugill officiating. The architects Norris & Sharland were represented by Mrs. Norris.

The architect's perspective plan of the building was presented to Mrs. Brock, this she accepted with thanks. The land was donated Mr. H.R. Brock, along with his wife they subscribed a generous sum of £250 towards the erection of the church. The church was of Gothic design and to be built of weatherboards, it was expected to seat up to 125 people. The cost was expected to be £450 and the builder was Mr. F. Williams of Hobart.

Dr. H.H. Montgomery, the Bishop of Tasmania consecrated the church on 29th November 1894. The church forms a pleasing form in the landscape above the Main Road of the town.

This building has been sold and in 2023 it was being converted into a private residence.
