St Barnabas'

The new Anglican church, St Barnabas was opened for service on the 13th May 1900 by the Ven. Archdeacon of Hobart, the Rev. H. Heineken Marten. An article in The Mercury in 1940 reported that it was opened by Bishop Montgomery.

Mr. & Mrs. G.A. Waller of Glen Lusk purchased the land for the purpose of a church, they also collected money from their friends in England and Ireland towards the building. Constructed with concrete walls, rough cast externally and internally plastered, it has been lined with local timber. The cost was £237 to build.

A report in the Daily Post newspaper, Hobart in March 1910 records bush fires around the Bismarck and Glen Lusk areas. People worked hard to save the Methodist and Seventh Day Adventist churches, but the fire was heading in the direction of the Glen Lusk Anglican Church and Post Office.

It was reported this building was destroyed by fire in December 1945.
