Overview

In 1955 St Andrew's Appeal Committee was formed, this was to raise an amount of $10,000 for the purpose of building a St Andrew's Community Centre. Fairs, picture evenings, concerts and balls raised funds and in the following years two blocks were purchased in view of building a church.

Plans and specifications for a Church-cum-hall were prepared in 1958 by Johnston and Crawford, the following year tenders were called.

An impressive ceremony was conducted by the Dean of Hobart (the very Rev. E.M. Webber) on the 22nd May 1960 when Bishop Cranswick laid the foundation stone, before a gathering of around 250 people.

St Andrew's Church Centre at Lenah Valley was dedicated on the 25th March 1961 by the Bishop of Tasmania - Bishop Cranswick, over 350 people attended.

This church was on the 2018 Anglican list to be sold. It is no longer in use.
