Overview

A small wooden church was built c1883 (in 1963 it says it was build some 80 years ago) and served the community for some years, it was also used as a school. Note Geoffrey Stephens in his book The Anglican Church in Tasmania ... reports the year 1900.

The Launceston Examiner gave an account of a memorial service held for the late Mr. J.D. Thomson in the church at Cormiston (Riverside) in September 1899.

Due to the rapid growth of Riverside it was decided that St David's would be built as daughter Church to St Oswald's at Trevallyn.

A modern brick building begun in February 1963 at a cost of $24,000. Church News October 1963 reports that around 600 people attended the dedication of the new St David's Church at Riverside. The church was dedicated by Rt. Rev. R.E. Davies on the 18th August.

The architect and builder were commended for combing the old and new style in harmony.

This church was on the 2018 Anglican list to be sold. It is now St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
