Margaret Street Catholic Apostolic Church

The Catholic Apostolic church was often referred to as the Irvingism or the Irvingian movement.

The church opened in Margaret Street on Sunday evening 4th September 1898 with approximately 150 people attending. The Launceston Examiner newspaper, dated 5th September 1898 reported the following:

The church is very neatly furnished, the chancel presenting an imposing appearance. With the exception of the seats, which are of kauri, all the woodwork is Tasmanian blackwood. The three walls and buttress are of brick, but the back is of wood, the building being constructed in this way so that it can easily be enlarged if necessary.

This building was later sold to the Church of Christ (see number 675).
